Coronation Street’s Jack P. Shepherd epitomises the trend of being loud and proud about hair transplants

Jack P. Shepherd is best known for his role on Coronation Street, but this week it was his new hairline – not his character David Platt – that got people talking. The actor just epitomised the new trend of men being loud and proud about their hair transplant when he gushed about the procedure to his fans on social media. Following a post to his 250,000+ followers on Instagram, the 31-year-old detailed how he came about undergoing the procedure – namely that he’d begun to suffer from hair loss following years of stress.

Jack boldly told Hello magazine: “I decided to have it done because my hair loss has really escalated in the last year, particularly at the front of my scalp. I remember seeing myself on screen and thinking, 'Oh my god, it is really falling out.' My hair loss has definitely accelerated in the last year.”

Unsurprisingly, Jack didn’t discover that a hair transplant was a viable option for him by some secret research online. Instead, it was a friend – one who was freely bragging about the results of his own hair loss treatment – who inspired Jack to take action. Jack explained: “I was blown away by the improvement and he told me he wished he had done it earlier. I thought, if I am going to do it, I should act now so that I can get the benefits for longer. I want to get my hair back to what it was like before so that I can style it at the front any way that I like.”

Of course, Jack isn’t the first famous face to go public about having a hair transplant. The procedure has been enjoyed by the likes of Wayne Rooney, Calum Best and James Nesbitt over the years. However, as we enter a new year, Jack exemplifies the trend of men being happy to flaunt the results.
